Interview with Destiny Carmichael: The Reigning VWE Endurance Women’s Champion
In the world of SL wrestling, few names have risen as quickly and dominantly as Destiny Carmichael. The current VWE Endurance Women’s Champion, Destiny burst onto the scene in the Fall of 2023, immediately making waves across the VWE Endurance roster. With victories over some of the biggest names in the game—Brooke Owens, Becky, Club Aphrodite, Angel White, Venus, and even Samantha Foxy—Destiny has proven that she’s not just here to compete; she’s here to conquer.
This past May, Destiny solidified her legacy by competing in the inaugural VWE Endurance Tournament, a fierce competition to crown the first-ever VWE Endurance Men’s and Women’s Champions. In a thrilling final round, she faced off against Blaire Bennet, one half of Club Aphrodite, and emerged victorious, claiming her spot as the first-ever VWE Endurance Women’s Champion.
Destiny lives by her tagline, “Bigger, Stronger, & Better,” a mantra that has fueled her rise to the top and guided her through a remarkable 11-1 record this season. As "The Bag," she has made it clear that she’s here to dominate and redefine what it means to be a champion in VWE.
We had the chance to sit down with Destiny to discuss her incredible journey, the challenges she’s faced, and what’s next for this unstoppable force in SL wrestling.
Interview with Destiny Carmichael
Q1: Destiny, you've taken down some of the biggest names in VWE in such a short time. What has been your key to success, and how do you maintain your focus and drive with each new opponent?
Destiny Carmichael: Well, I appreciate that! Honestly, I've been blessed to work with amazing people and align with an even more amazing company. They take really great care of me, and I love that I have the ability to be who I want and portray myself in the ways I see best fit. Destiny Carmichael is all about being a POWERFUL woman and representation (I mean, look at me *chuckles*). So, most of my days are spent in the gym or at the VWE Performance Center preparing for my matches and/or just learning and teaching myself new things. I’ve learned that the key to success in this sport is that you’ve got to believe in yourself just as much as you want the fans and supporters to believe in you! It’s just like anything in life, it's competitive, this is a sport, everyone wants to be at the top, but only the strongest get there. For me, I believe in hard work, and a few ass-kickings always get the job done.
Q2: You made quite the statement by winning the inaugural VWE Endurance Women’s Championship. Can you take us through that final match against Blaire Bennet and what it meant to walk away as the first-ever champion?
Destiny Carmichael: First and foremost, let me be the first to say that you should never underestimate the power of a little skinny chick with a pretty face! If I learned anything facing Blaire and even Barbie or Angel Cole, it’s that every woman is on this roster for a reason. Big, small, or indifferent, every girl is here because they want something! Some girls are managers because that’s what they do best, but for all of us that step into the ring, the goal is gold. When you’re hungry for that opportunity, there's no telling what someone might do to get it. Blaire reminded me that looks are deceiving, and she put up one hell of a fight for a girl her size, but it just wasn’t enough to beat me!
Q3: Your tagline is 'Bigger, Stronger, & Better.' How does this mantra influence your approach both in and out of the ring, and what does it mean to you personally?
Destiny Carmichael: Mmmm, I like this question! “Bigger, Stronger, Better” aka “The BSB” is a movement, it’s a culture, a way of life! It’s not about being cocky or vain, it’s about taking a confident approach to life and understanding that, unfortunately, sometimes not everyone's gonna agree with your decisions. But at the end of the day, you’ve gotta do what's best for you and your tribe, and you do that by being “BIGGER” than the obstacles set to deter you, “STRONGER” than the negativity they throw your way, and that makes you “BETTER” than every b*tch coming for you!
Q4: With an impressive 11-1 record, you've been dominating the Endurance roster. Which of your victories stands out as the most challenging, and how did you overcome it?
Destiny Carmichael: You know, honestly, I think when I first started my little journey, every match was super scary, and my goal was just to not look crazy out there! But as I’ve grown into my “BSB,” the focus has been to just outdo myself every week. One of my favorite people I’ve wrestled so far (and some people don’t know this) is actually Becky! I usually wrestle on Endurance, but this past Spring, the bookers called me over to Defiance as a surprise opponent for Becky during her Women’s National title run, and I was able to pick up the win. Honestly, that little heffer can move! She’s so fast, so creative, and just one of the current best, in my opinion.
Q5: You’ve faced a wide range of opponents, from Brooke Owens to Samantha Foxy. Is there anyone on the roster you haven’t faced yet but would like to challenge, and why?
Destiny Carmichael: Oh boy, I literally have a mental list of quite a few girls, but I won’t name them all because that’d just be silly. But in the VWE, I’d love to tangle with Becky again. I’d also love to work with Lady Death; she’s always a nice, tough match. A lot of people compare us, actually. Outside of VWE, if I could invite just one person to step in the ring with me and really just go crazy, it would be the legendary Lyra Phoenix. I just feel like we’d look really cool, two buff chicks battling it out with crazy strong moves. That’d be fun, and of course, it’d be an honor to beat my first Legend hehe.
Q6: As someone who burst onto the scene in the Fall of 2023, your rise has been meteoric. What has been the biggest surprise or challenge you've encountered in your VWE journey so far?
Destiny Carmichael: Yes, wow, how fast time flies! I mean, I feel like I’ve learned so much already, but having an opportunity at the VWE Endurance Women’s title is something I’ll always cherish. I mean, what a moment that was, right? In under a year, I was able to not only capture the VWE Endurance Women’s Championship but also make history as the FIRST to do it, and to be a Black woman! Whew, so many emotions ran through my mind when the moment actually came to be, and I honestly owe it all to the VWE Universe for believing in me.
Q7: Looking ahead, what are your goals for the remainder of this season, and how do you plan to continue building your legacy as the reigning VWE Endurance Women’s Champion?
Destiny Carmichael: Well, now as your inaugural VWE Endurance Women’s Champion, the price just went up! I have new goals and new rivals knocking at my door every week! Right now, my focus is to hold onto this title for as long as my Destiny has written, to continue making more memories, and one day going into history as a SL wrestling great. I appreciate the interview opportunity and hope to see you all at Endurance every Sunday!
